Eco Rural Tourism and the Valorization of Local Products

Chãtour TEAM

Chãtour unites tourists operators of the community of Chã das Caldeiras with the objective to market local products and rural tourism while respecting the environment.

Chãtour is a nonprofit organization promoted by the progect COSPE an Italian ONG: “The Progect of Support and to Sustain Basic Communities on Island of Fogo, for the Valorization of Natural Resources and of Local Products”. The progect is financed by the funds of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE).

Investing on the ability of local communities to sustain and to reinforce, through appropriate informative processes, their own self-management capacities of tourists activities, and to obtain in a such way, in the best hypotheses, a progressive rise of income and work opportunities, in particular for the categories in disadvantage the women and teenagers.

WINE CHÃ
This is the denomination of the local wine produced with the grapes of Chã das Caldeiras and transformed exclusively at the Wine cellar of Chã and managed by the Association of local producers of Chã in cooperation (partnership) with a Fiorentina ONG COSPE, on a project to “Sustain Basic Communities on the Island of Fogo for the Valorization of Natural Resources and of Local Products (Cape Verde)” - Cod. AID MAE 7718/COSPE/CPV

NATURAL PARK & PRESERVATION
The protected natural preserve, constituted few years ago and financed by the Tedesca Cooperation, includes the Volcano and the surrounding area of the Caldera, also including the forest of Monte Velha, the only area on the Island that boasts the presence of an exuberant tropical forest.
